Sunday

Well, it's Sunday and this weekend has blown by like it usually does. I woke up with a horrible sore throat. I am convinced that this is because I smoked approximately 35 cigs yesterday. I just started smoking about a week ago again after quitting since Thanksgiving of last year. I got stressed, bought a pack, saw some mob movies, etc.. you know the usual bullshit. I had Amanda come with me to Walmart to buy the patches yesterday because I truly hate smoking and don't want to smoke any more days then I have already. I decided that I would make yesterday my last hoo-ra so I chained like an old woman from Alabama with those long virginia slims hanging out of their mouths. You know... the ones that make you want to throw up at the idea that human beings can actually look like this. I am happy because today I get to spend the day with my wife and yesterday I barely saw her. We went to breakfast and like I said, bought me the patches, but other than that, she was babysitting and I was practicing with my band. I am in a band called "The Verge of Bliss". It's just a name we are using for now but not necessarily the final name. We are booked at a place called the Blue Moose Tavern (thebluemoosetavern.com) on January 24th, 2009. This will be our first gig and my first gig in over 8 years! I am playing drums currently in the band and hopefully will be singing backup. I like to think that I can harmonize pretty well. Well, I guess that is all I can think of for now. My throat is burning and I need to go have another cigarette so I can start these damn patches full swing. Wish me luck and have a great Sunday to whomever reads this.

First Blog

This is all new to me here, but I guess I should start by introducing myself. My name is John Preston Carter and most people call me Preston, Pres or Presser. My nickname as a child was "Jeep" because used to go everywhere and over anything. It later became "Messy Pressy" which I believe is self-explanatory. I married the most wonderful woman I have ever known, Amanda Lynne, on July 21st, 2007. She is currently 30 weeks pregnant with our little girl. The expectant due date is November 5th, 2008. I am very excited and definitely a bit stressed as well. Mainly due to the usual concerns..mostly financial in nature. I like to think of myself as a funny, laid back, caring person. I have my moments though! My favorite animals are bears and I think that is because I know how to act like one. My focus right now in life is to find a job where I am truly happy and can make enough money to not have to worry very often. I want the house, the white picket fence, I guess you would say the traditional American dream. Outside of that, money is not very important to me. I love the outdoors and have become a cycling fanatic. I have not been riding very often lately, but it inspires me. It is a sport I can see myself doing for the rest of my life. I have always been into music. I play guitar, piano, drums currently and formerly I used to play brass instruments such as Trumpet, French Horn, Tuba back in High School. Wow, that was a long time ago! I have one sibling, a sister named Shelby who lives in California with her husband and my new nephew, Agustin Lee. He is adorable and I am thrilled to be an uncle for the first time. My mom is currently staying in California to help my sister through the transition of going back to work after having her baby etc... She will be coming back to Atlanta to help Amanda and I with our little girl so that we can get some sleep from time to time. Other then that, I guess that is all I can think of for now. I will be back again when my brain is firing on all cylinders. (this could take a while so don't wait up :-)
